A wheelbase is the single component that defines how your rig feels, so the buying decision turns mostly on peak torque, the drive type, and which ecosystem you're committing to. Nearly everything in this list is direct drive, where torque is the headline number: enthusiast bases like the MOZA R9 V3, Simagic Alpha EVO Sport, and Fanatec CSL DD sit around 8-9 Nm, which is plenty for most drivers; pro-tier units like the Fanatec ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+, and MOZA R21 Ultra push into the mid-teens and beyond; and the no-compromise class — Simucube 2 Pro, Asetek Invicta, Fanatec Podium DD, Simagic Alpha EVO Ultra, and the MOZA R25 Ultra — reaches well past what most people can hold without serious bracing.

The other half of the decision is the ecosystem. Each brand (Fanatec, MOZA, Simagic, Simucube, Asetek) uses its own wheel and quick-release standard, so your base largely dictates which rims, hubs, and accessories you can run later. Cross-brand adapters exist but add cost and complexity.

Ask yourself two questions first: how much torque your rig can actually anchor (a desk clamp limits you long before 20-plus Nm is usable), and which wheel and pedal family you want to live in long-term.
