The CSL Pedals are a beginner-tier two-pedal set using a potentiometer brake and connecting through the base port. They're the most affordable way to get pedals alongside a CSL DD, and they can later take the Load Cell Kit for a firmer brake. Anyone who can stretch to a load-cell brake from the start should do so, since potentiometer braking is the clear limitation here.
